Working with Chelsea and Mocha was honestly one of the BEST experiences. Horses have always been a huge part of my life and I honestly don’t know where I would be without them. Hearing Chelsea’s story with Mocha and having the opportunity to capture their relationship was truly special. Chelsea and Mocha have been together for 5 years now. Mocha was abandoned on a slaughter lot, terrified, malnourished, and pregnant. It would take this beautiful mare quite some time to warm up to Chelsea and learn to trust again.

Chelsea told me it took two years of patience for Mocha to finally learn to trust and accept her as someone who would love and protect her forever. After spending a long time working through her fears, these two began to shine as a pair. Chelsea says “this once terrified, broken, beautiful horse had now learned to not only trust but to love. We found that she LOVES to jump and has a natural ability for it. Our goal in 2020 is to compete in our first jumper show. She loves going out on trail and endless cuddles. Carrots and apples are surely her favorite but she loves all treats. I joke that I may have rescued her, but I truly believed we saved each other. Mocha is the horse I never knew I wanted, but genuinely always needed.”
